The Vueling airlines pet travel policy for 2023 includes options for flying with dogs or cats in the cabin, but not in the hold. All animals, including larger dogs and cats, are not permitted to travel in the cargo hold with Vueling. We have flown with our dogs in the cabin a few times with Vueling and they have been excellent on each occasion. Not only does Vueling allow dogs in the cabin, but they also permit cats, birds, fish and turtles! However, only two pets are allowed per flight and one pet is permitted per passenger. The cost of flying your pet with Vueling varies depending on destination. Assistance & Service Dogs, including Psychiatric Service Dogs, fly in the Vueling cabin free of charge. However Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) aren’t accepted to fly under the Vueling Assistance & Service Dog travel policy. You can also check out reviews by other pet travellers for Vueling, or leave a review if you’ve travelled with Vueling with your cat or dog! Read on for the full Vueling pet policy 2023.

Pet dogs and cats in the cabin with Vueling
The following pets are permitted to fly in the cabin with Vueling in their travel bag, up to a combined weight of 10kg:
- Dogs
- Cats
- Birds (excluding birds of prey)
- Fish
- Turtles/tortoises
The travel bag or kennel must meet Vueling’s specifications as outlined in their pet travel policy, with maximum dimensions of 45 x 39 x 21 cm. The travel carrier can be no heavier than 10kg with your pet inside, and it must be a soft carrier, not rigid. On the flight, the pet carrier can only be stored on the floor with your pet inside. Your furry (or scaly!) companion will then sit in their comfy travel bag either between your feet, or under the seat in front of you. You can’t remove your cat, dog or any other animal during the flight for safety reasons.
If you are travelling with a friend who also has a pet on board, you may have to sit several rows apart. We have had to do this on a couple of flights, however, the rule hasn’t been imposed on every flight we’ve had with Vueling. In any case, you can’t choose your seat or check-in online if you’re travelling with a pet, which is the same with all other airlines that permit pet travel.
Cost of flying a pet in cabin with Vueling
- Domestic routes – €40 per pet, per flight
- International & Canary Island routes – €50 per pet, per flight
Passengers can travel with one pet in the cabin. A maximum of two pets are permitted in the cabin on each flight.
Dogs and cats in the hold
Vueling does not accept animals for travel in the plane’s cargo hold under any circumstances.
Vueling Assistance & Service Dogs and Emotional Support Animals (ESAs)
Assistance & Service Dogs are those that have been individually trained to help people with a special need. To fly with one of these dogs you need an official, physical certificate qualifying them as an Assistance or Service Dog. You can fly your Assistance or Service Dog free of charge in the Vueling cabin.
You need to take a printed copy of the certificate with you to the airport, and the certificate must state that your dog has been officially trained in assistance. As Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) are not professionaly trained to perform a particular task, they are not included in the Vueling Assistance & Service Dog policy. However, if you have an Emotional Support Animal with a professional certificate stating it has been trained as your assistance animal, it will be recognised by Vueling.
In order to fly with an Assistance Dog, including a Psychiatric Service Dog, you can notify Vueling when you book your flight on their website. Select the Passenger with Special Needs option in the Passenger Details section, and indicate that you’re flying with an Assistance Dog. Travelling with these pets does not incur an additional fee.
You can also book by calling the Vueling Customer Services Centre once you have completed your online booking.
Excluded Routes
Vueling does not transport pets to and from the United Kingdom (Scotland, England, Wales & Northern Ireland). However, there are other airlines that allow small cats and dogs to fly in the cabin from the UK.
Non-Permitted animals flying with Vueling
- Rodents
- Lagomorphs (e.g. rabbits)
- Mustelids (e.g. ferrets)
- Farm animals
- Birds of prey
- Reptiles
Booking Process
To make things easy, if you are booking your own flight online, Vueling kindly allows you to book your pet on the flight at the same time. To do this, you must select the ‘Basic Fare’ option, then add your pet in the ‘Customise Your Flight Section’. The online booking process for Vueling when travelling with a pet is therefore very simple.
If Vueling doesn’t suit your requirements, check out the pet travel policies for other airlines, or read about flying in Europe with your cat or dog. If you’re travelling with more than one pet it’s a good idea to learn about flying with multiple pets.
Always protect your pet against vector-borne diseases in a foreign country, and remember to leave a review if you fly your cat or dog with Vueling!
